This was a super buy it now on Ebay AU, very reasonably priced & thus irresistible!
It is made from dark blue - green glass with an intense dark iridescent finish. The vase measures 22 cm tall, 5 cm across the polished top rim, & 5.5 cm across the integral footed base, which has a neatly polished out pontil mark. It has a simple bottle like form, made unusual by the hexagonal lower part featuring an indentation on each panel.
A heavy & substantial piece for its size, it is of outstanding quality & in excellent condition for its age.
Last photo shows it with a vase purchased a few months ago, with which the newcomer shares a good deal in common - the blue - green glass under the iridescence, the painterly application of said iridescence (it sweeps around in horizontal brush - strokes), weight & general air of high quality. A few folks suggested that it could be an example of Webb's Bronze glass - so have I scored another one?
You found another !!!!! WELL DONE !!!!!
Nice pieces. I think it is a product of a glass factory in the Teplice area. I would say Rindskopf.
Many thanks, Kevin!
Found this listed as carnival glass, which has proved to be a fruitful search for mis- attributed Art Nouveau...
Thanks also, Ales - & I'm open to all opinions on these pieces, they are just wonderful examples of Art Nouveau glass...
You are a very clever finder!
Much appreciated, Karen...I think it's because I'm obsessive, LOL!
interesting and so bright
Many thanks, kivatinitz!
