Just asking for any information on this trunk. Was passed down through my husband's family who have been in the house since 1860s roughly. Can't find any labels & wondering if anyone knows any details! Age, brand, locations where it could have been purchased new-anything is helpful!

I am definitely not a trunk expert, but I have some idea.. It appears you have a flat top steamer trunk with leather straps. But you also have latches, so has to be after 1872-ish?

Some patent images that may apply: A good rule to keep in mind, the trunk is typically not older than the earliest patent dates.
