Japanese (?) weed pot

This little red ware vase is 5.75" high x 2.5" in diameter. It is not marked. I bought this on line, attracted by the fact that the seller identified it as Japanese. I do not see a lot of Japanese red ware, so took a closer look at it and did not see how the seller identified it as Japanese so I asked them how they had done so. They replied that they weren't sure how they had determined its origin. I decided to buy it since it was very inexpensive, so that I could get a better look at it. The walls of the vase are quite thin, but I think it is hand made, not spun in a mold. There is enough variation in the applied design to make me think is hand decorated, as well. Not sure what to think about age, origin, etc., but it is an unusual and attractive little pot, so no regrets.
