These lamps are 11" high including base but minus socket and harp. The bases are 4" square. Both are marked "109" or "601" on the base. I think it is "109". They are cast, not stamped.

The decoration was mostly done using transfers but I think that the accents to the handles and upper rim are hand painted. Not sure of the metal of the bases but probably brass plated zinc.

The cords are canvas wrapped, old and in poor shape. I will definitely be replacing them and not even testing the lamps with them. I think that the plugs are Bakelite and I may try to save them. The slide switches on the sockets are brown on one end and red on the other end. Not seen this before. I will also try to save the sockets. One of the finials is broken and the top is missing. They are either plastic or Bakelite.

Guessing these are boudoir lamps. Maybe 1930s, based on the style and age of the cords and hardware. They feel Japanese to me, but I could be wrong. Perhaps more "Asian themed" than actually Asian.

I definitely do not need any more lamps but the pottery is mint (amazing considering their age and the fragility of the handles) and the bases can be cleaned up and restored. At $4 each, I could not leave them to an uncertain fate.

Thoughts on origin, age, etc. welcome.

indeed a bargain I do not think for sure that their are Asiatic, the tranferred Dresden flowers were not so much in use in that zone

Thanks for your comments kivatinitz! Maybe more accurate to say "Asian themed", then.

Thanks for loving my lamps Cisum, Jenni, BHIFOS, Daisy1000, Kevin, fortapache, PhilDMorris, dav2no1 and Watchsearcher!
