Here is another thrift shop find Inuit carving with the Canadian disc tag. It is 5" long x 5" wide x 3" high and weighs 2 lbs. It is signed on the bottom "JOANAS-" and has a number "-22E031" or -22E037". The cork feet applied by a previous owner obscures both marks. It has the Canadian tag on it, as well. On of the front paws has been broken and a rough repair made, which is quite sturdy. It did not make it onto the shelf, I pulled it out of a cart full of stuff that was waiting to be unloaded.

Probably not going to take the cork feet off to try to identify the carver. Apparently Joanasi is a common name among Inuit carvers. An awkward piece to photograph and my images do not show it well. I may try again.

Found for $3 at the thrift shop I do not go to very much because they have a lot of crap. I returned to see if a small padded easy chair/rocker I had seen on my last visit was still there and it was. Marked $25 and paid $18 for it with tax. Turns out it is a locally made chair with a label probably from the 1930s. The seat is stuffed with straw over crisscrossed red and yellow straps.

I have been looking for a comfortable chair that I can get into my car and carry to the upstairs of my new house. It is a very interesting, probably one of a kind chair that had been upholstered in leather like vinyl or similar material, very worn but serviceable and probably worthy of having re-upholstered some day. Very interesting details in the wooden parts. Small but very comfortable.

I also found a very intricate cast iron hinged collapsible candle holder for a half dozen or so candles. Very odd thing and I cannot find anything like it on line. $2 so couldn't pass it up. It stands around three feet tall and looks like a house fire waiting to happen to me.
