I purchased this antique beaded bag a number of years ago at an estate sale. The owner of the estate had a collection of antique bags, none of which came with provenance. The beaded portion is of black velvet; the top and bottom portions are what appears to be silk. I have been told that it might be of native American origin though the use of velvet and silk seems to me inconsistent though I have no expertise in this area. Would be interested in any and all opinions. Thanks!
It measures about 8" x 10".
The floral beadwork is very beautiful
Wonderful !!!
Beautiful!..
it does look like some of the beadwork i've seen from New York State - like the Onondaga or one of those groups.
