This porcelain flask is 4.5" square and 1" thick. It has a makers mark on the front and an indistinct mark on the back. Called a dachibin (sic). I found lots of interpretations of the correct spelling.

Not sure if this is meant to be used or is purely decorative. It is pretty delicate. If meant to be used, there must have been some sort of plug that is missing. This type of flask appears to be more common in Okinawa where they are more robustly built.

I do not know who made this.

While it lasts, here is an ebay link to a different version of this flask that I found:

Thanks for your comment, Vynil! It took me a while to figure out what it was!

Thanks, ho2cultcha! The other example I found of this flask depicts a geisha rolling a ball of twine or yarn. All of the Okinawan ones that I have seen just have seemingly random painted designs.

Thanks for loving my hip flask Cisum, Falcon61, dav2no1, ho2cultcha, Karen, Kevin, BHIFOS and Vynil33rpm!

Thanks, TallCakes! Not sure that this is a wall pocket based on eBay auctions. Of course, that is where I found them listed as hip flasks, too!
