Hello. I recently purchased a couple of items I am not certain of their origins. Wondering if anyone could shed some light on. The shield is quite heavy and measures approximately 40cm in diameter. The dagger measures to 35cm in length.
any information would be appreciated.
I think that the shield was made in Benares, India. The knife might be a 'kris' from Indonesia, but i'm not really qualified to say. I don't know much about knives.
The shield is indo Persian. It actually has a nice pattern on it. Called a Dahl separ...you can see on the back it looks like it's been manufactured vs a hammered one. Even the reproductions have some value..

Thank you all for your kind responses and the link which is very interesting. The shield and Kukri knife are reproductions. I wasn't sure thanks for confirming this. I didn't pay a huge amount for the pieces.

Not called a "ghurka". Ghurkas (Nepalese soldiers), are well known for this using these knives. They are sometimes called Ghurka knives. Made in Nepal and India. Also used by various police forces in both countries. Based on a chopping tool used in Nepal.
Your knife is commonly called a "tourist knife".
That's what I said..kukri knife, also called a gurkha knife.
