I picked this up today because i love the colors - the blue and red. And it is a cute shishi [foo dog or Buddhist lion]. I think that those three names are interchangeable. I think it's slip cast from what i can see. It also appears to have had something covering the base at one time. I think the blue over red is a clever way to make it look old. regardless, i like it.

Being half Japanese, shi shi is what we do in the bathroom. Differences between languages can be confusing.
Lol Dave, in Brazilian Portuguese it is the same only spelled 'xixi'. I like foo dog & Buddhist lion much better for this pretty animal :)
