Found at goodwill years ago. Why are the asking prices all over the place for this ashtray? I’ve seen anywhere from $8.00 to over $100.00. Castaways hotel Miami Beach.

A seller can ask whatever they want or what they think an item is worth. Often times people have sentimental feelings towards an item, but that does not make an item anymore valuable. Additionally a lot of sellers are confused as to what they have. An example people often misrepresent their pieces saying "antique" vs "vintage" or calling glass "depression glass" even though it's modern or reproduction. Often this happens because they just don't know anything about the items. Always look at "SOLD" prices to get actual values. An item is only worth what someone is willing to pay
Good advice. It’s really hard to know what something is actually worth.
Even when comparing "Sold" prices, you should look at several examples. And items change in value over time. For example clear glass and milk glass are very hard sells at this time. There's always the exception of special pieces. My sister and I have a top rated etsy store. When we buy items to resell, we have to consider gas costs driving to obtain items, packing costs, selling fees, etc. The money from the store just goes back into inventory. It's a fun hobby.
Great ashtray!
