I purchased this lovely little (tiny) box, but am not sure what it really is. Have not been able to find another like it, but assume it may be a thimble holder? Ink well? The box measures 2 3/4 inches to top of figurine, and each side is 2 1/2 inches long, and the bottom is carved from a single piece of wood. The lid fits perfectly no matter which side you place it on! There is a white plastic "something" at the interior center, which appears to be glued on. Other than the carving in the wood, there are no marks on the box. The tiny figurine, woman playing violin, is very detailed. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!
My guess is sewing box or candle holder?
Thank you for commenting! Could be, but seems too small - only 2 1/2 inches each side and the outside height of lower half is only 7/8 inch. The figurine reminds me of Enri; at first I thought box German or Black Forest - definitely old.
