Trying to identify these bottles and the contents. I have gone down the rabbit hole many times and have yet to find info that I can be certain of. If you can help with this, I would greatly appreciate it. Cap seems to be a thin metal with P. W. R. Co. stamped in it. Bottoms of the bottle have what I think is the number 17 and 13, unsure as they are not real clearly defined. White fine powder inside.
Great color glass
Could be Alum for pickling cucumbers
Could be something that kept granddad pickled
Might be from the Powers Weightman Rosengarten Co of Philadelphia, which would date them between 1904 and 1927, when the company merged with Merck (or possibly during WWII, when the subsidiary was revived to run Merck’s business in Latin America)
Thank you MMNJ, that helped narrow it. I finally found a picture of another bottle that has the same metal cap. It is from Powers Weightman Rosengarten Co of Philadelphia.
