Antique Coffee Pot Or Chocolate Pitcher Unusual Finish

I’ve been trying to find whatever this is online as I’m not sure if it was made for coffee or hot chocolate. The outside has a tar like coating that also has a unusual white finish on the inside.I first thought it had a sleeve on the inside but it doesn’t.The metal work is really primitive especially on the lid and handle..The bottom 2”on the inside feels like it’s turned in to some kind of a concrete like substance that I’ve never seen before. It’s hard as a rock that might be petrified chocolate.Does anybody know what this was used for and how old it could be.Thanks for looking and any ideas are greatly appreciated.
