This rare decanter of Green glass not uranium glass had always attracted my attention in the Calle Belgrano fair. Oscar had it, a very sweet and kind man who always has the merchandise very well displayed. You know I always like enameled glass, it was not cheap and I do not remember how much we had payed for it probably about 20 U$. I love marrons glacé, candied chestnuts, and the motif painted is a leaf and some chestnuts (horse chestnuts).
I had no idea of who made it, after several days of research on line I am almost sure it has been done by Cristallerie Saint Denis. The glass is optic and thick, the pontil in the base has been polished and has a 56 engraved. The shape is very characteristic: two globes with the handle connecting both ones, can be found in the catalogue of Legras 1898. The stopper is often found in Legras bottles and perhaps it has been molded.
The history of Cristallerie Saint Denis and François-Théodore Legras is interesting https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fran%C3%A7ois-Th%C3%A9odore_Legras

Merveilleux! So much to see and enjoy here. The facetted stopper, the connected but different enamelled designs on each part. But best of all the handle is fun, looking like a pair of hands holding the two parts together!
