Joe Rice bell shaped paperweight.

This paperweight by Joe Rice is 4" high x 2.75 widest diameter. It is signed "JOE RICE" on the bottom. What looks like writing around the rim of the base is just some roughness in the mold, I think.

I had never seen this shape before when I spotted it at a local thrift shop a few months ago. I bought a couple of other things on a couple of other visits but passed on this paperweight, which was really dirty, thinking that I would pick it up on my "next visit". The next visit finally came and it was gone! Woe! Heart ache! That was maybe five or six months ago. Today, after one of those "I should have just stayed in bed!" thrift shop excursions to five thrift shops. I found this paperweight in the thrift shop across the street from where I had first seen it. It had increased in price from $8 to $10, but I was happy to be reunited with it and ended the day on a positive note! It is not the first time that I have seen something migrate from the first to the second thrift shop!
