This glass butter mold was the first one I've ever come across. I have three wood ones but this was unique to me. This is stamped "Bomer" and "PAT APLd FOR" with a wood plunger and a star impression. Someday I want to make homemade butter and when I do, I will use these early 20th century inventions. I just love how creative and utilitarian our ancestor were. It's too bad we don't use these tools anymore, but I collect them to remind me of the craftsmanship that resulted in items over 100 years old that are still useful and purposeful.
My Granny owned at least 2 wooden butter molds and a 5 gallon churn. I now own her churn but the butter mold’s probably went to some other grandchild when she passed away.
As I recall, her molds also had a star pattern.
I’ve never seen a glass butter mold. Nice!
To: Watchseacher, I have a collection of butter churns as well. The whole process is amazing to me. I'm happy for you to get these memorable items from your granny. That's something to cherish, especially knowing her hands once touched and used these items during the upbringing of your parent. :)
