Well I just want to say hello . Glad I m back with a story to share especially watch loovers????
This pocketwatch is quite rare I am hoping someone from the group will let me know what you are thinking, cause I have not been able to find any answers on the internet. I do know by the serial it was produced in 1876 as a model 1. First of all look at the dial I have not seen an Elgin dial like it. Is this even a Elgin s dial. It hard to make out but I put in a picture. Number 2.. I have never seen a case like this with the hallmarks of a straight forward anchor. I am assuming it's dueber. I read that it is solid gold because it is truly embossed or raised. I just looked again and did not see this particular hallmarks. Who really made this case.. could be possible Elgin made it. But I would like to find out. Please tell me , for all that it's worth,if you know the answers to these questions, thanks in advance

Great and not so great.. I thank you for your wonderful insight, but the core question remains unsolved . The link was for a 1880s watch, I know I know ,but I just need to be clear. So it's a Elgin made dial.. or how would I find that dial in particular.. thanks for responding so fast

      The anchor looks similar to..

Birmingham Assay Office (anchor) hallmarks for sterling silver

But the outer shape is different than examples I've searched so far. And there's no other images with it..possibly suggesting it was used to fool you into thinking it was English silver? More research needed.

Here's the mark I was referring to..all the way to the bottom..

I don't know, not a watch expert..only pointing out that there's another Elgin watch with that face. Just pointing you in a direction to search..maybe look into that name associated with the watch in the link.

Right ,good truth me ,the case markings are right from Birmingham, but Elgin was an American company , touche ,, .this appears to be dueber ,mark . I don't know ,it has to be a early make. And assuming it's 14kt. I think of it, the cartouche was used by dueber in the 1870. It has another mark on the back hard to make out. Oh it was also initialed. N N Very. What does that stand for

dueber stamp also seems to have a outer shield shape? N N Very..possibly owner initials? Very anonymous? Lol not sure. You have several mysteries here. You may need to go to the watch forum...just make sure to update us once you find out. Very curious now.
