The Makuzu Kozan studio kiln went on for almost 75 years creating several styles which Fuki-e was one of them. Fuki-e (blow painting) with a small screen or fine mesh by blowing through the screen trying to imitate the shading and the atmospheric washes seen in paintings by using paper cuts or stencils to hide sections were the glaze is not wanted. Measurements are 8” X 4” and approximate date is 1900.
