Hello everyone!!
This small cold painted spelter inkwell dates back to the Victorian era. It depicts a rabbit sitting next to a nest of eggs. I really love this one. It has experienced a tremendous amount of paint loss throughout it's 150+ years of life. Due to the small size of this inkwell, which is only 2 1/4" long, 2" wide and stands 1 1/2" tall, I'm apt to believe that this would have been a child's inkwell. The porcelain inkwell itself is no more than the size of a thimble.
Thanks very much for stopping in for a look!!

Searching1,
Thanks!! I cleaned as much of the 150+ years of dirt off this piece that I could. The remaining dirt just won't come off. But, I like it just the way it is now.

Nice little treasure, I love the small ones this size the best !~
Such an adorable little rabbit & egg nest, so sweet and well preserved for its age. You find some amazing treasures Scott
what original idea, a bit of a forest on your desk
Thanks Phil!! I love this size as well.
Jenni,
Thank you very much! I tend to look for the diamond in the rough. Though this one appears to be very dirty, it was far worse than this when I found it. A lot of folks would have probably passed on this, but it certainly caught my eye.
Thanks kivatinitz!!

Sometimes all it takes is some love and elbow grease to turn a find into a treasure! You have certainly done so here, my friend :)
Thank you Eileen!! This was probably the dirtiest piece I've ever bought and tried to clean. I couldn't even tell that the eggs were white until I began cleaning it. But, it's about as clean as it's going to get:)
