This 2 1-2"L circus or carousel jewel bedecked horse head brooch has black & peridot green enamel, with green, pink & teal rhinestones and one clear stone eye in a goldtone setting. By Bijoux Cascio of Italy & NY, founded by Gaetano Cascio in Florence in the 1940s, then registered in NY in 1988. This design ca 1990s

I love his plumage as it solidifies his outing as a circus horse. The coloured stones help this colourful beauty repose in his dignity !~

Karen thank you for your fabulous comment and you have nailed it, she's a proud 'black beauty' horse with her lovely rhinestone embellishments and very Italianate design, my photos are a little dark but the goldtone here has that yellow gold cast that Italian jewelry is known for

I can see what reminded you of the other type brooch as I photographed this in rather low light to avoid glare on the shiny black enamel which looks matte here & doesn't enhance the beautiful jewels & fancy headpiece of a show horse. To me I am reminded of those fantastic black leaping Lippizaner horses prancing about in a show, as well as the carousel or circus horses of bygone days
