Found these last weekend when going up to Hampton Downs to check out my mate Alan doing some demo laps on his bike.
They were in an antique shop and I couldn't leave them behind even though I was on my scooter. They are 310mm high but fortunately I always carry a small bag attached with a mini cargo net to the back of the bike and lots bubble wrap later was on my way.
They are made by Venus Hot Glass in Christchurch run by Ian Walters and Tokiko Tatemoto at the time they were engraved
"Venus 2006 NZ"
note if you have a couple of glasses from these it won't be only the glasses that are feeling wonky, the green one will take 1/2 a litre!
Better not let "her in doors" know she will want to use it :)
The twist in the stem almost makes the mind think they are floating !~
Nice glass but sorry Bernard, I'm focused on the RG500.
Is that really Pat Hennen's old racer?
Awesome even if it's a replica!
Hi Karen. The bike is a Mk1 RG500, it was brought by Colemans Suzuki for Pat to use in the 1976 Marlboro series and then the 1976 500cc World Championship. He won the former and came 3rd in the latter.
The bike came back to NZ after that and was sold on. My mate has pretty much had is since. He used it to win the NZ GP and 500cc title. There are 2 sets of fairings one used when Alan races it and another as when Pat rode.
If you think the tank looks a bit weird that is due to it being a TT tank. It was blown out to get a few extra litres in for the Isle of Man. Remembering the IOM was the "British GP" in 1976.
