Here is a 5"H horizon blue glass mallard originally designed by Royal Hickman for Heisey Glass in the late 40s, their item #10, reissued by Imperial Glass in the light blue and named Duck-Mallard Wings Down item #43941 ca 1980. IG raised imprint seen in photo #4
Beautiful duck.
Love how it reminds me of a mascot and the light colour is perfect. perfectly beautiful !~
Very translucent duck, he almost looks ghostly and dreamlike. I like that about him, he's very ethereal! :)
Jenni....YOU have an INCREDIBLE eye! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL!
celestial indeed, I do not how to express it in English it means something like heavenly but celeste in spanish is ligth blue....
This is a great piece of glass! Not just the lovely colour but to model the duck in flight is so good!
Thanks everybody for the thoughtful love

Thanks so much B for the lovely compliment, I think the designer Royal Hickman had a great talent for making birds & usually added swirling clouds at their feet to enhance their beauty
Phil you are so right, I can see a car mascot in the front-leaning pose of this mallard, thank you for your wonderful praise and observ
Thank you Lauren for your really great comment & I love your take on this duckie, it's very ethereal & dreamlike in that beautiful pale blue. I agree it is a very translucent glass unlike others with dark shading angles & much easier to photograph
Ralph thanks so much for your super praise, I do try to choose my animals with care & there are some I just don't take to....for example Heisey made a braying donkey that I think is really ugly & I'd never get that one! I'm truly happy you enjoy my choices my friend
You are absolutely correct kivatinitz, celeste is blue and celestial the heavens or skies, both are beautiful compliments for this flying bird thank you so much! I could not describe it better, the designer made swirling clouds below him so he is definitely on the way to flying high
Karen this is one of three mallard ducks Hickman made for Heisey & Imperial Glass reissued, this one with wings down, one with wings up which I've posted in caramel slag glass, and the last has the wings halfway up. They are all very evocative of birds flapping their wings ready to take off and I esp love this horizon blue series that shows the detail better. Thank you as always friend for your awesome praise
Thanks Falcon & Kevin for the love for this blue glass mallard, very grateful to you guys & glad that you liked it - a hard one to photograph because it's so pale, it is actually prettier in person
Wow! Beautiful color!
Thanks Vynil & vintagelamp for the love, and v.l. thanks so much for your wonderful praise for this piece & its color, a lovely pale aqua that Imperial called horizon blue
Lovely glass mallard!!
Thanks Scott & vintagelamp for the kind love, and Scott for your great praise for this glass mallard, really happy that you both enjoyed him!
Thank you MrsT for the love for this Heisey Imperial mallard, always very grateful for your kindness
