This porcelain mother cat and kitten figurine is 6" in length x 5 1/8" in height x 2" in width. It has a Takahashi import label. It was made in Japan, but the maker is not known. Once pretty common, now hard to find, these and when found, tend to be a bit spendy, but I found this one for a reasonable price. It is a pretty delicate piece which may explain why they are becoming harder to find, now. I have been looking for an undamaged example at a reasonable price for a couple of years and got lucky.
I was walking late at night a few months ago and saw this exact figure, in real life, crossing the street in front of me. Just a few seconds after the mother cat and kitten reached the opposite curb, a car careened around the corner at high speed. If it had arrived just a few seconds earlier, it would have run over mother and kitten.
First image not too good, so I will try to get a better shot when time permits.
bellísimo, my older son and mom love cats...
One of the cats’ 9 Lives?
Thanks for your comments, kivatinitz! My family was a dog family, and hated cats, when I was growing up. I finally made them see the error of their ways, when I brought one home after my military service, and they then had both dogs and cats for the rest of their lives.
Probably one life used up by mother and child, Watchsearcher!

I've never been a cat person, but I do love this piece!!
Cats rule, dogs drool! Actually, I like dogs, too, they are just too much work for me to have one. Thanks for your love and comment, jscott0363!
Thanks, Jenni!
adore your reply
Thanks for your comment, kivatinitz!
Thanks for checking out my figurine, MarketaPiras!
Thanks, jbingham95!
Thanks Kevin for your really nice comment on that old picture, the cat was named Grumpy which may be because he lost his leg - he got around pretty well on the three legs though. Falcon ID'd the car, a 53 Chevy Bel Air, you guys are the best :)
Thanks, Jenni! Losing one of my limbs would probably make me grumpy.... I am already a bit grumpy, so have a head start on that!
Well you have to know I love this. What a treasure for any cat lover. Great find! :)
Thanks, mikelv85!
This is an utterly charming piece, with a delicacy equal to the mother cat's attentions to her little one. Just fantastic. Given your love of cats, it really did find its true home!
Thanks for your comments, rhineisfine! Worry for the late reply. Wish CW would get their site fixed!
Thank you, prettymollie and Falcon61!
