This posy trough is a charming example of English Victorian pressed glass, & was found on eBay AU.
It is made from opalescent light yellow glass that contains uranium & glows brightly under UV light.
The trough measures 15 cm long across the top, 5 cm tall, & 13.5 cm across the base.
It has a pattern of stylised oak leaves & acorns, & a ribbed design on the base. There is a impressed number 29106 on the inside.
Though the colour is similar to Davidson's Primrose Pearline, I don't think this is an example of their products. The yellow colour is somewhat softer & the opalescent effect more diffuse. After a bit of research, I've found that this by Burtles & Tate, circa 1885.
Another great find, IronLace. Lovely, rich vaseline opalescence. These B & T items are scarce and very sought after! I hope I might find one for myself, too.
Many thanks, Russel117!
Yes, I was thrilled to find this...I've only got one other Burtles & Tate item (a wall pocket vase). I did have one of their swan ornaments but sold it a while back.
