I recently bought this dagger in a souq in Muscat, Oman, and wanted to try and verify what this is.
I was told it was made in Zanzibar (the seller indicated it was at least 80-100 years old), the sheath and hilt made of frankincense wood, decorated with pearls and with brass (I assume) trimmings. The blade features flower and leaf engravings and is 13cm long, with the entire blade and sheath being 32cm (in total).
I have tried to find similar looking blades but cannot see anything in common - I would be really interested in hearing any thoughts on the origin of this blade (and whether I have bought anything of any value!)
Welcome to CW. Interesting knife. From what I understand, zanzibar was a trade depot selling spices, ivory etc. It's possible it was made there?
My thoughts...I would suggest that something that was made 100 years ago would have made to be used and not for decoration. And on the assumption that ot was made for use, I would expect wear and patina. I don't really see this with this knife. With any types of wood, you would expect the oils, dirt, sweat, etc from your hands to leave a patina.

Lots of “antique” knives in middle eastern souks— rarely are they items of age or value.
Your knife looks decorative.
