I can't remember how long ago it was that I bought these. It must got them at either a yard or an estate sale. They are made of bronze and I believe hand painted on. The ducks wings (only 1) move but they're not mechanical. Instead, they flap a little with motion. I don't have a clue what those symbols are on their undersides.
They are simply trinket boxes...
Adorable pair of ducks, look like cloisonne designs
An elegant vintage PAIR (male and female bird) of handcrafted Chinese Cloisonné Mandarin Ducks enamel boxes. Traditional Asian symbol of Love and Fidelity. Mandarin ducks are said to mate for life. The two love birds become so attached to one another that if they become separated, one may perish from sadness. Circa 1970s ~ Made in China. Useful as jewelry or trinket boxes as well as ornamental. .
Thank you all for the feedback.
