This 1 3-4" sterling silver bull brooch has an abalone body & is from the 1960s. From Taxco Mexico with name mark in circle along with 925 for sterling, and artist initials plus small eagle hallmark on leg

He's a fantastic bull, a lovely piece and my favourite of yours this week. He's gorgeous, lovely strong pose and really eye catching abalone shell on him. He's definitely getting ready for a charge too, especially that pawing the ground pose.

Thank you Phil for your marvelous comment, they really did a wonderful job with the abalone inlay on this bull's body it's quite lovely. Abalone & paua shell have the most amazing color variations, they've always appealed to me. Because this piece is vintage there were plenty of these Mexican silver abalone animals around, today it's less popular because of overharvesting but finding a classic like this is really a thrill
Lauren I'm so happy this is your favorite animal of mine this week, I have to say it's mine too! The minute I saw him I fell in love, not only with the beautiful abalone but that wonderfully designed charging face & head, and even great detail on the hooves. I think that Mexican bull & bullfighting jewelry is so excellent because they love that sport there (hopefully toned down not to hurt the bull) and they see bull images all the time.
