Here is a 4"H red glass horse head on a platform originally designed as a 6 3-4" clear glass bookend by Thomas C Heisey in the late 1930s. Reissued in smaller paperweight size by the Heisey Collectors of America ca mid-80s, with HCA raised imprint on neck. Photo #4 describes original from book Glass Animals & Figurines by Coe
Imagine a chess board with this as the knight. Smaller version of course.
Love the bookend aspect for these, I remember having mine at one time and even now in paperweight form its a winner !~
Fabulous!
As Mikelv85 pointed out, it's very reminiscent of a chess piece. Imagine it in stark black or even white- would really be the chess theme too.
Except that raspberry tone is yummy too! :D
Thank you so much everyone for the love

This horse head could totally be a chess piece if smaller Mike, that would be so impressive! I've seen clear glass chess sets but in red it would be really striking. Thank you for your super perceptive comment
Phil the Heisey designers made such pretty horses in all forms, another terrific bookend series is their rearing horse (also a popular design with other glassmakers). My favorite is the Flying Mare designed by Royal Hickman, it's huge but such a powerful horse, think their artists studied the real animal closely. Thank you for your wonderful comment
Thanks Penny for your awesome comment & I'm delighted that you found this horsey fabulous, it's a beautiful horse face esp the flaring nose area is so realistic
Lauren it's so true, this horse head would be an amazing chess piece right. And the red glass does have a berry tone, try as I might even in natural sunlight that's how red photographs for me. Thank you for your fab comment
Thanks Sean & Steptoe for the love, very glad you liked this red horse and always grateful for your thoughtfulness
Many thanks Thomas for loving my red horse head, it's always most gratefully appreciated
Such a luscious red.
Thank you dear Karen for the love & super comment, I'm truly glad you liked this red glass, it's a rare color for me to find lately and this horse looks very regal in it
Humble thanks also for the kind love
