This Viking Art Glass covered compote is 8" high x 4.5" in diameter. The label has not survived. I believe this is from their Epic line, but I do not have access to my Viking Glass book by Dean Six. I can find no wear or damage on it.
This was a $2.74 Goodwill find. I was surprised to see it there and so inexpensively priced. I am not collecting the more common shapes of Viking Glass anymore, but this is a fairly uncommon color, and I have several examples in other colors, so am considering just collecting one of each color. I use some of these for chocolate holders. They are very sturdy and stand up to regular use with little worry of chipping or scratching.
Unfortunately, my friend, daylight did not help my images, so I may try to redo the first image under more controllable lighting conditions..

Great find for the price!
Really nice cranberry color. I've had some Epic pieces as well. Mostly the orange swung MCM variety.
That’s beautiful!
Gorgeous piece Kevin, dug out my old Six book & you're right it's from the Viking Epic series, the "six petal" covered candy jar with lid #6812 - nice score!
very pretty with that special glow
Thanks for the link, TallCakes! Good reading!
Thanks for your comment, dav2no1! Too good to pass up, it was...
Thanks for your comments, mikelv85! I have some of that orange swung stuff, too. I will probably keep most of my orange Viking when I downsize.
Thanks for your comment, LadyGreyZeta!
Thanks for your comments and for excavating that book, Jenni! I can see mine, I just cannot reach it..
Thanks for your comments, kivatinitz! I really like Viking's ruby red...
Thanks for loving my Viking candy dish, vcal, kivatinitz, BHIFOS, Jenni, fortapache, inky, mikelv85, Cisum, DejaVu2, Deano, dav2no1, Kevin and Vynil33rpm!
Thank you, silverbird and Daisy1000!
It is just beautiful! Love the rich red color. I believe that I have a very similar one, excepting mine is red and yellow/orange, like a sunset! When I display it again next fall I will have to post it, see what you think!
Thanks for your comments, Faith.k. I believe that the color of yours is "persimmon". Here is a good history of Viking Glass Co. on YouTube:

BTW the pricing on this video is ridiculous. This video is made by someone who has a store and sells glass, so I would just ignore that part.
Thanks, DejaVu2!
