How do I determine the value of Pre Banned Ivory?
I inherited these carvings from my FIL who bought them while in the service during Vietnam. He purchased them in Hong Kong, China. Hang On Ivory Factory in 1966.
:Emperor & Empress on wooden base
11 1/2” tall with base
10” tall without base, just the carvings
Wood Base 3 1/2” x 3”
Emperor weight is 17.39 oz
Empress weight is 17.17 oz
I also have,
:Bridge of Life on Wooden Base
:Puzzle Ball on Ivory Stand
I’m not interested in donating them. And, yes I know how cruel this trade was. I’m looking for any information on value. Thanks!
They are beautiful and I know there are people here that could help. It might take a few days. What a handsome orange tabby as well.
Thank you for your reply. Those are my grand kitties????.

Lot of factors involved with ivory. Do you have any paperwork...like the receipts? That will help a lot.
"Asian ivory: If it is raw or worked and it was imported before 1976, it is legal to own but illegal to sell. If it was imported after 1976 but at least 100 years old at the time of import, it is legal to own, sell and export. If it was imported after 1976 and was not 100 years old it, is ILLEGAL.
African ivory – If the ivory is worked and not raw and it was imported before 1989, you can own it, sell it and export it. If it was imported after 1989 and was 100 years old at the time of import, you can own it, sell it and export it. If it was imported after 1989 and was not 100 years old at the time of import, it is ILLEGAL. Raw ivory, meaning that which has not been carved or worked that was imported before 1989, can be owned, sold and exported. Carved ivory imported after 1989 is ILLEGAL."
