Haeger U.S.A. Pottery Mouse
Approximately 4 1/2" tall
My sister and I were buying a large lot of glass from a seller today for our etsy store..about 90 pieces of vintage glass. We had bought from this private seller before. I was commenting on this mouse figure..and she gave it to me. This will go into my personal mouse/rat collection.
This mouse is made by Haeger U.S.A.
HAEGER AND CHICAGO FIRE!
"David H. Haeger founded Haeger Potteries in Dundee, Illinois, in 1871. He previously was part of owner of the Dundee Brickyard. The company benefited from the 1871 great Chicago Fire, shipping large quantities of brick to the city for rebuilding. Haeger expanded the line to include decorative tiles.""
FROM BRICKS TO FLOWER POTS TO CRYSTAL
"David along with his son Edmund began transitioning from brick and tile to producers of utilitarian ware such as flower pots. The first Haegar Art Pottery was introduced in 1912. In 1914, J. Martin Stangl designed a line of commercial florist ware. By the 1920s, Haeger Potteries manufactured crystal and glassware, household dinnerware and utilitarian items, and novelty souvenirs."
HAEGER BECOMES ROYAL
In 1938, Royal Arden Hickman joined the firm and introduced the Royal Haeger line. 1939 marked the formation of the Royal Haeger Lamp Company. Hickman left Haeger Potteries in 1944, continuing to freelance as an independent designer.
GRANDDAUGHTER TO DONE
"Alexander (Lexy) Haeger Estes, David’s great granddaughter, assumed the company presidency in 1979. The company ceased operations in May 2016."
