This is the third Welz vase in this shape to come to light. Each has a different décor, one found in America, one found in Belgium and one found in the U.K. This one has internal spiral ribbing and fine white glass lines applied to the exterior. You can see from the base that six separate lines were used. The lines were applied where the internal ribs are at their thickest and pushed into the glass.
Though the décor hasn't been seen before image four shows the same foot on another Welz vase.

      This is so attractive.
I love the tapered hexagon, the clear white spiral thread, and the feet.
      It’s a wow from me.

This is just SO cool...got it on my wish list now of course!
The foot I also recognize from a four sided Welz vase in my collection.

Wow 22, it's that old saying, a picture is worth a thousand words. It's especially hard describing something I'd not seen before and guessed that no one else had either. I'm wondering whether your comment may have come from seeing my original Welz group post which lacked photos as I had a glitch in my computer. But I agree image three explains a lot.

racer4four, A wow is always special and always appreciated. Thank you! It's pieces like this, a rare shape and a décor never before recorded that keep me interested. Welz never seems to care about following trends in style, shape or colour. They mixed and matched willy-nilly. The geometric shape is pleasing, the internal ribbing gives optical effects and the external applied lines are well executed and a definite plus. THEN they add a frilly foot at odds with all the rest! Should I laugh or cry..............

It's interesting how much of designer's and executor's ideas are contained in this seemingly simple vase.In shorter words : I love it very much!

Yvonne, I agree, and especially on the execution of the applied white lines. The more so because I've often wondered whether Welz had ever even heard of 'Quality Control'

Peggy, your comment has brought me good luck today at the antiques fair - found my first ever life light!

So glad to be of help, Marin. Seriously I envy your monthly antiques fair. I've never lived anywhere that had anything remotely similar.
