This lamp body, minus hardware, is 18" high and about 9" widest diameter and has a kiln mark. It weighs a whopping 20 lbs. The design has been scribed, by hand, into the glaze.

It is very thick pottery. At first, I thought it must just be an art piece that someone converted into a lamp, but then saw the UPC label on the bottom. I was unable to get a read on it. It appears to translate to "1P97757BX", a Code128 bar code which was invented in 1981. Not sure how much information this will provide. Still working on identifying the kiln mark.

No idea why it is so heavy. Seems like it would be very expensive to ship in any quantity.

The hardware, the harp, socket, cord. etc., are all quite new looking. The finial is a heavy metal ball with a threaded brass insert in it which is a bit smaller in diameter than the hole in the lamp shade, so that it fits very snugly. Everything about this lamp screams "Quality!" .

Very odd lamp. About $6 at GW today.

Thanks, mp.kunst! It is Japanese, not Chinese. I sent the seller of the other lamp that information. Happy to see that theirs has the same finial as mine!

Yeah, the Amazon thing is not very similar..

It's a great piece of pottery.
      Bigger can be better!
Would look good with a funky MCM fabric shade.

Thanks for your comments, Karen! For some reason, I am not getting CW notifications of comments on my posts... What is probably the original shade came with the lamp, though it is a bit beat up. It is a simple, but very wide conical shade. I made replace it, just because it is so wide.

Thanks for loving my hernia lamp, Reise,mp.kunst, fortapache, DejaVu2, Karen, vcal, Kevin, Cisum, dav2no1, Vynil33rpm, mikelv85, Jenni, and Deano!
