This pewter teapot is 10" long, including handle and spout, 5" in diameter, minus same, and 5" high. It is marked on the bottom. The mark places manufacture between 1876 and 1898.

It is hand hammered pewter and has a wooden handle. It is in very nice shape, though the interior is heavily stained. Not intending to use it, but if I did do so, I would clean it out first. Pewter retains the characteristics of tea brewed in it, so it is recommended to use only one type of tea per pot.

"John Turton was established in Sheffield in 1876 at Times Building in Bow Street and manufactured under the name John Turton until 1898 when the firm became John Turton & Co. and in 1910 became a Ltd. switching to new premises in Kendal Works until 1916 when the firm closed permanently. The firm also used the trade names Buxbridge and Cadena during its existence."

A $3 GW find. Too nice to leave to an uncertain future.
