Mobile was the Brand that Coveys Little America Truck Stops decided to call their fuel back in the late 50s. I believe they were making the fuel from their own Refineries and were one of the larger vendors of fuel in the Nation at the time. Obviously Mobil Oil eventually heard about the similarities in the trademarked name they had in other States and strongly encouraged the Little America owners to sell them the right to use the name in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. Robert Earl Holding was the owner and a man of honor, but a sharp businessman. A mutual agreement was made and the Holdings sold their trade name Mobile to Mobil and switched to Covey Gasoline, until they purchased a Sinclair refinery nearby. It was Steven M. Covey that started Little America and he had brought Holding in to manage the facilities and eventually sold to Him. We have all three of the gas globes that Little America used during that period of time and I don’t know of another place that has all three of the globes designs? We just displayed our Covey collection yesterday in 100 yr old original ripple body glass rings that I got from an Oil Bulk Plant nearby our home back in the 1970s. The Bonneville Streamliner logo was displayed on the Little America Hotels and gas signs as well as their gas globes. We also have both styles of Coveys Mobile gas signs displayed.
