i bought this ring from a secondhand store. i thought it looked pretty so i bought it. i cannot identify the hallmarkings. the stamp on the outside shank looks to be S&S? and inside theres S*Ga and probably a stone carat weight. if you could help me please ????
If a gold product bears the hallmark ‘585’, then your gold has been tested and classed as 14 carat or 58.5 per cent pure.
14 Carat Gold is a very popular carat for everyday jewellery in the USA.
The colour of 585 Gold can vary markedly from a silvery or ‘white gold’ to a deep coppery tone or ‘rose gold’. The actual gold content remains the same but the colour will vary depending on the type of metal added to the alloy.
