Dixco Inductive Timing Light
This is a timing light used to set the ignition timing on automobiles. I acquired it at a local garage sale a few weeks ago. It was late in the day and everything was free. The lady said her dad had it for 30+ years. I was immediately drawn to the cool graphics on the instruction pamphlet that shows some old school muscle cars.
Interestingly the Dixson Inc. Company got their start making tachometers in 1958 based out of Vashon, Washington. That is not too far from where I live.
The company was making tachometers..in 1964 they relocated to Grand Junction, Colorado and expanded into underhood gauge trios, various tachs and testing equipment.
"In 1969 they brought out their HT/X hood tach. The muscle car era faded fast and by 1972 it was a distant memory. Dixco was still around selling tune up and test gear. For 1975 they decided to try a little glamor and cheesecake to peddle their timing light, DA Diagnostic Analyzer and combo Tach/Dwell Meter timing light machine. They came up with a fairly weird tag line for these tools, calling them The Dixco Investigators. Two babes dressed in identical black patent leather raincoats with white buttons and high heels were the Investigators and were billed as "Deadly Accurate." Well, plus or minus 2 percent any way."
Here's a few links to Dixco/Dixson Inc. History..

Hubba, hubba!
I'm not sure why they would adjust the timing on their car with long coats like that. The extra material might get caught up in the fan blade. I usually wear a tight-fitting sleeveless muscle shirt.
