This is a .3 liter Japanese lined, cast iron teapot. It is signed below the spout. It appears to be unused, probably a souvenir from a trip to Japan in the 1960s or 1970s. The seller said they got a description from a local dealer (Amarillo, TX) which sounds about right.

"Tonami Shop Southern Iron bottle Iron kaishusu yuzu 1# #, 0.3L 99-2 Tea leaf pattern." 'kaishusu yuzu' basically means "collectible pot".

This is a theme of kyusu made by several foundries. I always assumed it represented a persimmon, based on some other attributions, so the "Tea leaf pattern" is a surprise. After looking at some images of persimmons, I no longer think that is the theme of these pots. Every example of similar pots I have examined have a sort of orange peel texture, so perhaps some other citrus fruit is the theme.

Did not need another pot, but this one is like new, tiny, similar in theme to examples from two or three other foundries in my collection, fairly early lined pot and only $.99, so hard to pass up. Not sure if I have any cast iron from this foundry, either. Shipping was $12, so still not a bad purchase. Also do not have one in black. These mostly come in brown/orange. No idea which foundry made this pot.
