Some people may say they don’t have room for collections, but the miniatures are always a great option. Many were made as salesman samples and others may have been duplicated as children’s toys .

Neat collection. I have some sad iron trivets and other trivets. And yes, some can be large.
Thank you! I have several of the large ones too, but I prefer the little ones
Regarding pic #1, miniature iron 5th from the left:
Is that a Dover Dolly Iron I’m seeing?
I posted mine a while back….it’s a treasure to me.
Can you show an overhead pictures of those we are seeing in profile?
Hi watchsearcher I checked underneath the cover and it does say Dover number 12 is that the dolly? I also Have another one that looks very similar, but it is a little larger and underneath the cover it says sterno, sad iron outfit. I will post a few more pictures of these and include an overhead of the others. Thanks for your interest. Do you know why they called the little Dover “ Dolly”?
Hi Laurabelle61, mine has no numbers. Mine says Dover Dolly Iron Made in USA”
It was the childhood toy of my aunt who was born in 1917.
I suspect that mine is a salesman sample and possibly the dolly was reproduced as a child’s toy by the Dover Company. I recall reading that there were reproductions done as children’s toys. I will have to do some more reading on it. It’s amazing how many salesman samples are out there. To think of a time, when a salesman, and his most likely horse and wagon would travel house to house with these little miniature samples and take orders for the product. I suspect a lot of these miniatures eventually fell into the hands of children as toys and did not survive. I have a few… a cast iron cook stove, a few baskets, a chest of drawers, and the irons and trivets.
