This little cup and saucer is a mystery. I’ve had it for 30+ years and I’ve never been able to find anything on it. I’m not sure what it is made of but it feels like possibly clay and painted. I suspect this because I have a yixing clay tea pot, which is of Chinese origin and this feels comparable in texture and weight. It is covered in raised , very detailed ferns and various insects and does have some scratches which shows a lighter colour beneath the red

It is Dave, haven’t been able to find any similar pieces. The pattern is raised and very detailed.

Such a great set, and I think too maybe Chinese.
The details are good, especially the bugs. We have to love the bugs.

Thank you, racer 4… another like mind on the possibility that it is Chinese gives me hope that I’m on the right trail.. I thought that maybe it was one of a children’s set because of its size, but it does seem a little detailed for a children’s set and many of their tea cups seem to be of smaller stature anyway . I love the bugs, as long as they’re not buzzing around my head lol.
