My Mother told me that these six crescent shaped dishes are called "bone dishes" which is funny because I don't eat meat. I think they are beautiful although they are surprisingly sharp around the edges! They have little stop sign shaped patterns with scalloped edges and feel rough and sharp only on the underside and edges. I know nothing about them but I absolutely love them. My Grandmother died in the early 1970's and was 105 yrs old and these were left to my Mother. Now they have made its way to me. If anyone knows anything about them that would be great information to have so I can some day pass these on to my daughter (but with a little bit more knowledge) lol! BTW my family's roots are 16 American generations with the majority from Virginia. Hope you enjoy looking at them because I think they are stunning!
Yes these were used for the bones when eating. Several companies made these.. Hopefully Tallcakes will check in and ID the maker..I'm not sure who made these particular ones..
agree, they do look to be bone dishes. possibly EAPG but I'm not finding many examples. the motif is buttons (the hexagons) with fans around the border.
