Presenting Donald Duck and Daisy Duck. These were produced in Italy. The foil label reads G.I.R. Vicenza. I have seen other animals made in Italy and constructed similarly, usually humanized by various articles of clothing, Those could very well be popular European cartoon characters that I’m just not familiar with. These are the first that I’ve seen which bear a good likeness to Disney characters. I’ve seen a photo of another which I would say is Bambi but is not identified as such by the owner. I have no idea if any licensing was involved.
Donald the Romantic! He and his better half are what I believe to be spun cotton covered by felt. Their clothing is made with different materials. Each stands on a base similar to what we might be familiar with the Annalees.
I’ve had the nephew much longer. Good luck as to which one. Up until DuckTales, the colors they wore were interchangeable. This one is made very similarly but has no identification.
Kool Ducks,,
So European with the stylish clothing.
The tail is so extra.
Thanks Vynil, thanks Racer
The firm G.I.R Pertegato of Vicence, Italy, made felt or stuffed animals, inspired by tales or stories, possibly with licenses from Walt Disney for some of them. They are dolls from the 60s and are valued.
Kellymore, thank you again for your information.
