I seen the post from 10 years ago when I looked up my dime.. just recently found this one.. are they mint errors or someone tapping it with a spoon like suggested in the other article.. I seen that all different years were mentioned and were mostly older than mine.. guess if I could get some input on this being a mint error or not would be much appreciated... Y'all have a wonderful day????

      Hi, Mrjoshua13. :-)

I see that you're writing about this old CW S&T post:

      https://www.collectorsweekly.com/stories/88078-dime-200-with-raised-copper-edges

Unfortunately, new CW user Roger323 obscured the trail a bit with their eight duplicate comments (dunno if they were having technical problems or what), because I put some links in a comment on that post about six months back that explains a couple of the most common post-mint damage phenomena.

Seeing as you've taken the trouble to post your own coin, I'll put those links here:

      https://www.coincommunity.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=143863

      https://adventuresincrh.blogspot.com/2018/03/dryer-coins-what-are-they-how-are-they.html

Here is a video showing how to spoon a U.S. quarter coin into a ring:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CSsHWJr5DS0

I'm definitely no expert, but I do suspect your coin has post-mint damage. I doubt anybody was trying to make a ring, because a dime would make a ring too small for anybody besides a small child.

I have some of these coins- they are made by someone with time on their hands but they are interesting and a definite conversation piece.
