Does anyone have any idea how old this key might be? I just bought it at a flea market in Maine. It's about 6"-7" long and heavy.
    Thank you!!

Skeleton keys were used up to about the 1940s.. Your key is quite large and has an unusual bit...that would require a large keyhole. Unfortunately there are a lot of fake keys or decorative keys. You should start by determining the material..try a magnet. If it sticks its probably iron vs brass.. Its hard to tell from the pictures..closely examine the construction to see if it's hand made and durable enough to be used as a key.
