Don't worry, I am not going to plug it in. I know it is a lamp and it is old. That is about all I know. My husband could re-wire it, but I think it best to sell as is, when the time comes. Am I wrong or should I re-wire it? About what time period is it? What is the stem made out of? Just another unidentifiable object I found in my attic.

Looks like either a lamp made from some loose parts with a homemade/carved wood body, or else maybe the original lamp had a glass body which was broken and replaced with the wood body.

Agree with the other comment. My first thought was that the wooden part looks handmade, and doesn't really match the bottom. Maybe find an inexpensive vase to replace the wood, and rewire it then.
