    Hi everyone!!
With Autumn in the air and the weather beginning to cool off, things are starting to ease up a bit at work. So, I finally had time to clean and repaint this large cast iron pig chef. He was cast in France, but I'm not sure exactly when. I've heard some say 1950, some say 1900 and some say the 1800's (I'm leaning toward 1950 myself). Either way, it's vintage. It was severely rusted, as you'll see in pic #4. I managed to clean the rust from him and repaint him to his original glory. There are SOooooo many resin and chalkware versions of this fellow, still being sold today. However, the cast iron version is extremely difficult to find on US soil and when you do find one, sellers tend to ask a small fortune for them. I got very lucky and found this one online at an amazing price. He measures 22 3/4" tall, 9 3/8" wide, 5 3/4" deep and weighs in at a hefty 33.6lbs!!

Thanks so very much for stopping in for a look at my vintage cast iron pig chef!!

What a big difference over the original!! You are quite talented in the art of painting. And, when you can get something you collect, at a fraction of the value, is doing really good.

He's fabulous! What a marvelous transformation, such a dashing fellow in his culinary finery. Welcome back Scott you've been missed so much :)

      DejaVu2,
Thanks very much!! I enjoy painting and it's my escape from all the stress I deal with daily. I was more than thrilled to find this big fellow, restore him and add him to my collection.

      Jenni,
Thank you so very much!! You're far too kind. I've missed you all as well. I have 18 more months to go until retirement on my 62nd birthday. I cannot wait for the seven day weekend!!

Great piece, great job! Maybe so rusty because someone used it as a boat anchor!
    8. jscott0363 jscott0363, 1 year ago
Thanks kwqd!! It came from the New England coast. So, I was thinking maybe the salt air got to it, or perhaps it was used as a boat anchor:)

You did a really fine job in mixing and getting the right colours to what they should be. Some times those can be the deciding moment to see that you nailed it !~

      Phil,
Thanks so very much!! I have a wide range of colors to choose from and, with the help of my airbrushes, I was able to achieve what I was shooting for.

      Hi Mike!!
Thanks very much friend! When I bought this bis fellow, I thought he may be too far gone and was in doubt that I'd ever be able to bring him back to life. But, thankfully, with a lot of work, I was able to breath life back into this guy!!
