Looks like it has similar characteristics to the one I put on here which I’ve had no luck in finding any information except I thought it might’ve been Chinese origin.. does yours appear to be clay pottery?

Yes very similar I have just looked Laura, very difficult to find out any information although I have just seen another similar one which states it is a Vintage Small Chinese Carved Red ‘Cinnabar’ Lacquer Tea Cup, 1960's. Very interesting, just wish someone knew more about it.

It feels like some kind of clay or terracotta, it is dull to touch, but really stumped on this one, so thanks for responding!

I also have a yixing clay tea pot that is intricately carved with the raised pattern and squirrels and vines… The material used seems to be very similar to the tea cup, so that’s a possibility too.

That’s exciting! We may have cousins… Between the two of us maybe we will get it figured out,

Hi again, Aly. Was that a little tea cup on Etsy without the saucer that you saw because I looked at that and it’s definitely a relative of ours . I searched Cinnabar and there’s quite a bit that comes up so I will go through some of that. Also, I picked up the word QING on a Cinnabar vase which I think is a type of clay or the area it comes from in China. Similar to yixing clay so maybe that’s another lead to follow. I’ve had this little teacup forever, it’s one of my favourite things. I have a China cabinet full of beautiful tea, cups and saucers, but this little red one has a special spot on an open shelf upstairs, so I can see it daily

It's very unusual for sure, the Charity Shop I brought it had it out the back for months because they couldn't find anything on it at all, and weren't sure whether it was worth more or not, needless to say it is so unique, I couldn't resist, if I see anything I will give you a shout and vice versa, would be great to find something out about them, it was the one on Etsy, I am not convinced they have got it completely right, love researching items, one of the main reasons why I purchase them ;) Good luck and keep me posted !

This also is a possibility https://www.20thcenturyforum.com/t21504-wilhelm-schiller-sons-and-unidentified-jug

You’re absolutely right, just because you read it on the Internet doesn’t make it factual lol I went down that rabbit hole for about an hour, no luck yet
