These hashioki are about 2.5" long x .75" wide x 1" wide. They are not marked but came in a labeled box. The label says "Modern height Japanese vessel", at least that is what Google Translate makes of it. They are made of a layer of blue glass with a layer of clear glass, a gold leaf inclusion and another layer of clear glass that completely encloses each piece. They are quite heavy for their size. Maker not known.
I found a seller in Japan who recently discovered a cache of new old stock hashioki, which are very high quality. I bought most of them, since the seller was very flexible on the price. I am going to suspend collecting for several months to conserve funds, and this was a last fling. Some of the sets name the artist/designer, and some like this one, are a mystery. I suspect that the red stamp identifies the maker, but it is not translatable. The Yoshiki Ueno set is from this cache and I have four more to post.
What a great complete treasure that these are, the cobalt and gold tones really draw our eyes in !~
Green. I'm green with envy.
These Ueno pieces are fabulous.
Thanks for your comments, Phil! I wish I could figure out who made these!
Thanks, Karen! Ueno made good glass! Not sure if this is his work, though!
