    Vintage/antique powder horns
Not certain how old they are or where they came from originally. Had them since the 80s they came out of an old trunk when my in-laws moved. The lighter coloured one has a branch and leaf etching and a fish and rifle, and the end of it is carved nicely with some detail. The base of it or bottom is a wooden insert. The larger darker horn has some carving on the neck and a wooden peg and a leather strip around the neck of it with the remainder of a piece of cord. The bottom half appears to have a wooden butt and I’m guessing it is an oiled canvas type material. If anyone on here has any knowledge of powder horns I’d love to hear your input .

These are pretty amazing!! I'm sure there's someone on CW that can tell you how old they are and a bit about them. I've found a few treasures in some of my old trunks, but nothing a spectacular as these!!

Hello..Nice Post..These go way back in the day for their use. It does not surprise Me to see a Rifle insigna, considering their use.
Alot in the day were made from ox and buffalo.
      Thomas.
