Vintage, possibly antique checkerboard stencilled on the backside. Salvation Army War services e. Established in Canada and they’d provided many services to the soldiers during World War I and World War II. One service was providing canteen, and leaves centres for soldiers. Places they could go to rest a bit and have a hot beverages, snacks, and some recreation. They helped comfort and build morale in the weary soldiers before they were sent back out to the fighting. See attached for more information on them. Not sure if this board was made during the first world war or second. Definitely hand constructed and well used. 17“ x 17“ I purchase this at an estate auction 20+ years ago in Antigonish. https://www.warmuseum.ca/learn/dispatches/a-touch-of-home-the-war-services-of-the-salvation-army/
